  • ✈️ 👶 Check the expiration on your travel docs & memberships

Since many of us haven't traveled much in the past 18 months, many of our passports and memberships like PreCheck and Clear have expired. Keep in mind passports for children under 18 expire after 5 years and most locations require your passport to be valid 6 months after travel. Passport renewal for all ages is a pretty straightforward process, but applying for a new passport likely will take upwards of 6 months. • ✈️ 👶 Check lounge access options

Many credit cards include complimentary lounge access and most lounges have a designated kids area with TV and toys. Double check which airlines your credit card partners with and download the appropriate app to avoid crowds at the airport. https://link.joinarrange.com/airportloungeaccess

  • ✈️ 👶 Create an initial packing list & order anything you're missing

Think about what you need to make your kids comfortable and make the trip fun. Don't forget a favorite lovey, a few small toys, and extra clothes to plan for messes and accidents on the flight. Don't forget about yourself! Make sure you have small creature comforts like a comfortable neck pillow to make unexpected delays more bearable. • ✈️ 👶 Pack travel docs & schedule necessary COVID tests

COVID policies are changing rapidly and countries and destinations that may not have had any requirements when you booked could now mandate proof of vaccination or specific COVID tests. The CDC has a good overview of different travel restrictions, but ultimately it's best to check with your airline before travel. Some airports offer COVID testing for travelers before takeoff. This is convenient but fills up fast, make a reservation to reserve your date and time. https://link.joinarrange.com/CDCcovidtravelguidelines

  • ✈️ 👶 Book car or hotel reservations if you haven't already

Think about who you are traveling with and what you'll need when you get there. If your kids are still in car seats, consider a spot that doesn't require a car once you arrive. A vacation rental can provide more space and the use of a full kitchen, but often lacks the amenities and reliability of a hotel. Use Google Hotel Finder to search for both types of lodging in your travel destination, but pro-tip, booking with the hotel directly will often get you the best deal and perks. • ✈️ 👶 Confirm airline requirements for the kiddos

You're taking a trip with the kids! Double check that your ticket includes a lap infant if you're flying with one. Double check your seating assignments to make sure your family is sitting together in the best possible configuration. If you're bringing a car seat or stroller, confirm the airline's requirements. https://link.joinarrange.com/airtravelwkids_FAAkidsflightpolicies

  • ✈️ 👶 Pack activities and snacks for the trip

Snacks and toys/games can be the key to a smooth travel experience. Consider packing new toys/books that your kids will be excited about. Window clings are a great distraction for young kids. Bring the tablets! This is not the time to avoid electronics. Do what you need to make the trip easy. Pack lots of snacks and don't forget extras for the trip home. https://link.joinarrange.com/airtravelwkids_activitiesfortoddlers

  • ✈️ 👶 Pack the kid's "equipment"

Traveling with kids comes with lots of extra stuff. The good news is that strollers, car seats, and pack and plays can be checked for free. Check with your airlines for requirements. Pro-tip: you can sneak extra diapers or clothes into the car seat bag. https://link.joinarrange.com/airtravelwkids_backpackcarseat

  • ✈️ 👶 Pack your carry-ons

With the current travel delays, we suggest putting your toiletries, anything valuable, and at least one change of clothes in your carry on in case you need to live without your suitcase for a night. Going somewhere warm? Put your kid's swimsuit/goggles in the carry-on. Don't forget hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. Kids touch (and lick!) everything. You'll want to give things a wipe down. Here are 15 things you should consider packing in your kids' carryon: https://link.joinarrange.com/airtravelwkids_kidscarryonlist

  • ✈️ 👶 Check the weather & grab a mask or cleaning supplies

Double check if you'll need to bring a coat or an umbrella and throw a back-up mask in your suitcase in case you misplace yours. While most airlines provide complimentary sanitary wipes, it doesn't hurt to bring a few with you for added peace of mind.
